Knowsley Flower Show
Sunday, 4 August 2024
Court Hey Park, Huyton
The much-loved Knowsley Flower Show returns on Sunday 4 August for its 26th year, and the show committee are looking for new growers to take part in the show.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a green-fingered novice the committee urge you to make the most of the changing seasons and dig in to growing something for the Flower Show.
There are more than 100 classes open to enter, showcasing herbs, vegetables, floral art, pot plants and of course flowers, so whether you grow roses or beetroot, fuchsias or potatoes, there is a class for you.
And it’s not just flowers, plants and vegetables that can be entered into the show, there are craft categories, baking and jam-making, and even a series of children’s classes which cover photography, art and more!
Tony Hill, Knowsley Flower Show Chairperson said: We’re excited to welcome everyone back to the show in August, including many of the wonderful gardeners and growers who have been part of the show for many years. But what would make the show extra special in Knowsley’s 50th year would be to see a whole host of new talent take part in the event and also new volunteers.”
The Flower Show committee are also working with Jubilee Craftivists who are creating a yarn craft display to celebrate ‘Knowsley’s special 50th birthday and are asking all local residents and craft groups who are knitters or crocheters if they would like to submit a flower for the display they can drop them off any Friday 10-12am Jubilee Craftivists, Jubilee Park Pavilion, Huyton L36 2NW or any Monday or Tuesday at Court Hey Park L16 3NA or ring Katy McLoughlin on 0151 443 5749 who can arrange collection.
Growing for the show doesn’t have to be difficult, if you’re completely new to gardening you can pick up a packet of seeds or bulbs, plant them in some soil and see what appears!
The Flower Show Committee will also be holding some workshops in the lead up to this year’s show to help growers and gardeners get the most out of their plants and flowers. Check back for more information soon.
